  • This seems like an excellent time to do an update.  It seems hard to believe that over a month has gone by since my last.  I'll be visiting a few people today, as time permits, and pray you won't be offended if I miss any of you.

With the continuing chaos of my relocated job, I feel so good when I leave there that I just end up coming home, reading email, playing some computer backgammon then sitting in front of the TV.  (My wife and I get out two or three times a week to eat too.)  They have finally started to give me something constructive to do though so even if I don't like the location, I'll at least be busy and bot sitting around watching the clock.  I'm still hoping to get a reprieve and return to my old location at least a couple of days a week, but that's in God's hands, I can't manipulate it anymore.

Doing the worship on Saturday nights at church adds to my work load but not as much as I suspected it would.  The sets seem to flow out of me pretty easily and to keep things at a comfortable level for all involved I've been trying to keep the song choices to a smaller list so I don't have to spend a lot of time trying to get the set lists to flow properly because I already have the flow in my head when I set them up.  We have band members coming and going for various reasons but that is another thing I've left up to God and refuse to be overly concerned about.  When we were without a bass player, I just had the keyboard player fill the bass part in on keys until God provided a really eager and encouraging bass player from another church.  He's actually a drummer who plays guitar and is learning bass. He plays in his church band on Sunday mornings and travles the 20 miles or so to our church on Saturdays to play with us.  He likes the relaxed atmosphere we have in our band as the band he plays in has an inexperienced leader who keep a tight rein on everything.  Now our keyboard player is leaving to attend Sunday morning service and we will be without keys until God sends someone.  I have a line on ayounger player, but after seeing an experience another leader had with her one day, I'm not sure I'm ready to deal with a perceived immaturity and the inexperience she must have in dealing with a team approach.  Maybe God has other plans though and I'll just wait on Him.

I've has a cold that comes and goes, off and on, over the past three weeks or so and that has made singing a real experience.  I'm hoping and praying my voice feels better tonight as I'm doing the pre-service prayer and praise time as well as leading the worship at the service.

Well, that is about all I can think of at the moment.  I pray you have a great week ahead and be blessed!

  • I pray that your job situation will improve.  What a blessing it is to know that God is in charge and we don't have to manipulate people to achieve our desires.

Just a thought - the loss and replacement of band members is a wonderful demonstration to your fellow ban d members and the people attending the Saturday night service that God can and does provide for our needs.  What may be worrisome and even discouraging may its purpose from the hand of God to strengthen faith.

God bless your continuing service to the King.

  • yay, i got a dale blessing! thanks, bro, and i hope the job and worship team issues work out smoothly and in due time.

    best...

  • Blessings as you continue to faithfully serve Christ.

  • You only ever comment one very simple, though positive, thing. Please refrain from commenting to me if you are going to be so entirely impersonal.

  • Hey!  Good to hear from you!  Sorry I haven't stopped by much recently.  I've been running around like crazy, it seems.  It took me getting sick to slow me down, but luckily I'm home for it.  Have a blessed day, friend.  God bless.

  • I apologize if that's how you feel it was intended. Its just that whenever I check my comments and I see one I think, "Finally, someone has an opinion about all of this." and then I see the same comment that is so often there. It's always seemed to me that if you are repitiuous in saying, "God bless you" that it becomes an impersonal reaction.

  • God bless you, Dale!

  • I'm glad the work and music things are working out.  I hope your cold is better soon.

  • You spoke ablessing into my life with your comment on my blog. Thanks. I will be praying for the job situation.

Btw, Thanks so much for the comment; I am feeling better. Hope you get to feeling better too!

  • I had no idea Matt's birthday and Charley's were so close together!  I empathize with your wife in her concern about her children's spirituality, and I also empathize with you in saying you recall the time in the past when you were apart from a closeness with the Lord.  Somehow, it will all work out!  Every now and then, our kids show us beyond a doubt that most of our efforts have paid off.  An example--both of ours were available all day long a few weeks ago for my best friend's mother's funeral and time with the family afterward.  They neither one appeared to want to leave before we did. It was beautiful, and it was probably one of the top times in my life that I couldn't have prayed for a better outcome!  Hugs, Claudia

  • Dinner our the the Mizzy is very nice...Hope everything works out well for you. God bless...thanks for the visit again.
